π§ Did you know that the spiritual journey is not always hunky-dory?
I had the pleasure to attend a great talk by Debbie Ison from Tranquil Awakenings during the Newark Wellbeing Show last weekend.
Debbie, a therapist and an NLP practitioner/ trainer, has shared her experience as part of her spiritual journey.
I could relate to some of the things she shared.
π My main take-away was that, of course, the path to spirituality is beautiful and full of enlightenment and at the same time there are a couple of things to watch out for:
π± This is a massive transformation and as you grow further, you develop new perspectives different to many other people. This may mean that sometimes you may lose contact with some of your circle of friends which might feel lonely and isolating at times.
π± It's important to keep in touch with the material world. At times, we can get carried away in the spiritual experiences and be detached or care less about other things in our current material environment. A healthy balance is advisable, one where material co-exist with immaterial.
Tips on what you can try to overcome those pitfalls:
π‘ Make space for new people in your life. Surround yourself with like-minded people who have similar interests and are going through similar experiences like you. Talking and sharing with them will be extremely helpful.
π‘ Keep being in contact with friends and family who are not interested in spiritual experiences. They will keep you βgroundedβ in a different way. π
π Bottom line: surround yourself with diverse people and stay open to different perspectives: people similar to you and people who are very different from you.
